Horses…a child’s love of horses

Apr 16, 2009 Author: admin | Filed under: All Around Mom

Yep…I’m from a southern state and have family on acres of land.  So of course, we have HUGE horse lovers in the family.  Every year I am on the quest of looking for something kids will love and of course all related to horses.  My niece is the biggest horse fan and love reading about horses.  She barrel races and has several on her mom’s property.  Finally I came across an awesome book called Hot on the Range.  If you have kids that absolutely adore horses, this is a wonderful horse book you will need to purchase!  I can’t wait to give it to her for her birthday!!

It’s been how long?

Geesh…I guess you all feel a little neglected.  We’ll let’s see.  Since that last post, I was in a car accident, a little injured, and now am all put back together.  Hopefully all of the pieces are in the right place.  I have since started exercising again so my muscles are screaming but it’s all good.  I had to temporarily stop web designing but am now finishing the projects.  I just finished Southern Bliss Boutique & Gifts.  Ohh….so this is a new boutique opening in Frisco, Tx in March and I’m so excited!  My trendy online handmade store, Trendy Shoppes, is going to have some our products featured there.  Exciting, exciting!!!  And the owner, Karen also owns Chatterboxx Designs.  I’m in the process of redesigning that online store and am very excited.  We’re using a new shopping cart which is going to be fantastic!!

So anyway…here I am at 5am typing a post.  My little one has been sick with the flu.  This has been a nasty little virus and flu season here lately.  Guess today will be a nap day!!

Saying goodbye

Sep 13, 2008 Author: admin | Filed under: All Around Mom

to my flip-flops.  Now that we are about to get cooler weather after this storm just came through I realized that I am soon going to have to say goodbye to my beloved flip-flops.  I will take photos of my beautiful feet with my tan lines from my flip flops just to show you how much I love these shoes.  Man I should just move somewhere tropical where I never have to take them off.  I’m so sad now…want to move to Hawaii with me? :-p

Random things…1)I cry at movies and sometimes at commercials.

2)Don’t get me to talk about why I adore my husband…you may get a river

3)I love my fun and funky kiddos!

4)I have a handful of good friends who I know will always be there.  I have some awesome online friends that I would love to meet in person!

5)I love the outdoors - I grew up fishing with my dad.

6)I love to cook - it is relaxing to me.

7)My favorite food is Indian.  I’m always craving Kebab N Kurry.

8)I don’t drink alcohol.  I don’t have patience for drunks.  One of our dearest friends was killed by a drunk driver.

9)I love Coke (yes Coca-Cola - geesh)

10)I grew up with only 1 tiny bathroom in the house of 5 people.

11)My mother put me in a magnet school when they first open and I’m so very thankful she did!

12)I met my husband at a bar through a mutual friend.

13)I trust my husband completely.  Count your lucky stars if I trust you.

14)I work hard because I want my husband to finally rest after all the years of sacrifice he has done for me and our family.  He is an amazing man!

15)I’m close to my mom and talk to her as much as I can.  My dad is a big ole teddy bear!  The kids are always excited when they see them.  That goes the same for my husband’s dad and wife too.

16)I had my first job the day I turned 16.

17)My birthday is 6 days before Christmas and I hated it when people would give me one gift and say they combined it. Hey - I was a kid!

18)I played softball as a kid (through high school) but I sucked!  I played catcher - that part I was good at but couldn’t bat, run, or throw - see why I sucked

19)My kids play select and academy soccer in North Texas - both are lefties.  They don’t get their talent from me!

20)I love to travel. My favorite vacation has always been Kauai.  Stay at the Hyatt!

Ok…I think you get the jest of me.  :)

I wish my butt looked this good

Sep 9, 2008 Author: admin | Filed under: All Around Mom

So of course our beautiful Michael Kane gets me thinking about these hot jeans.  If only my butt looked this good.  I’m sure Mikey’s does so why not pay $200 if your hiney is rocking.  BUT what really got me thinking is we are hard working moms who do deserve to treat ourselves every once in a while.  So moms out there - go buy those awesome designer jeans, go to lunch with your best friends, treat yourself to a spa day…do it!  You deserve it!!!

Cute trash bags

Sep 4, 2008 Author: admin | Filed under: All Around Mom, Soccer Mom

OK…so I always keep a plastic trash bag in my car to throw away the gum wrappers, the straw covers when you go to the fast food place with the kiddos, the socks with holes in them…you know.  Well a designer from my consignment handmade shop designs the cutest little car trashbags.  So now I don’t have an ugly plastic bag but a nice bag that is machine washable.  So of course being the soccer mom, I had to buy the soccer mom trash bag.

Now if you are like my husband and eat your lunch in your car, I probably wouldn’t recommend throwing food in it unless your wife is going to wash it daily!  You might want this car console.

Neglected

Aug 30, 2008 Author: admin | Filed under: Crazy Mom, Designing Mom, Working Mom

Do you all feel neglected?  I know I have really neglected this mommy blog.  Where have I been?  This summer was crazy.  I had the boys home while trying my best to manage the few clients I carried over the few months.  And on top of all that, I launched my new business selling handmade items from artists internationally - Trendy Shoppes.  And of course the new school year just started and crazy mom decided she would volunteer her time to start the website for PTA.

So I hope to come back and visit with you all more often.  If you ever want to find me, visit my new online store as we are adding products all of the time and they are awesome!

Happy Birthday to my boy!

Jul 17, 2008 Author: admin | Filed under: All Around Mom

My sweet baby is 11!  I can’t believe it.  I literally can remember going into labor with him.  He is such a sweet and gentle soul and I love him dearly.  Geesh…I love both of my boys.  I can’t imagine my life without them.  Today we are taking the boys to Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, Texas.  If you haven’t heard of this place, it basically has a huge indoor and outdoor waterpark which is just what you need is this hot state!!  So I better go pack and get ready.

*also I want to wish Michael Kane a very happy birthday too who happens to share my son’s birthday today!*

My new online consignment store

Jun 10, 2008 Author: admin | Filed under: Designing Mom, Misc, Working Mom

For those that know me, know that I have been doing online businesses for about 10 years now. Currently besides Etsy and my web design business, I also own a network of community websites within the United States - currently 100 total.

I’m in the process of opening a new hip, trendy online consignment shop for only unique, handmade items - no resale items please. I will be responsible for the advertising, marketing, taking photos of products, shipping, credit card processing & fees, etc of the site/store. We will be launching soon with press releases, announcements, advertising etc this summer.

So, if you are interested in becoming on of our first stores to be featured, please contact me at suzanne@skjwebdesigns.com.

Peter Perfect

Oh my goodness…I’m addicted! I’ve already logged into my computer to see when the next shows are. It is amazing how he will go into a business and just transform it. The recent show I saw was a cake shop. At the end of the show it stated that their sales have quadrupled. His energy is infectious. For those who run your business, you know how we all want success. Sometimes it takes someone else to look at it from the outside to give us a little tip or two.

So, here is my 2 cents. If you run a business, find connections. You need support. Seek advice and give advice. I know we can be successful - if you believe, you can do it!!

and watch Peter Perfect :)
